So the weather is playing havoc once again and it may be that we may not be able to film tomorrow morning since the weather is due to be below freezing. I will make a decision about whether to go ahead with the filming tomorrow morning.

It also seems that the help that I have asked for may also not materialise. 4 people have already dropped out. I'm going to need to have at least 6 people (Including Dan - Main character) helping out with all the other stuff going on around the field.

We shall see how it goes...

So I have spoken to the people from Ignite and the people who own the field and I can film in the field on the 18th of December at 8:00 in the morning. I will remind people at the next ignite meeting and then it will be time for me to do the filming!

This is how I can imagine the field will be set up like. The bit with the crawling near the end may change if I can find a suitable hedge which could work in this video. This will essentially be the general set up though so it could be a useful document for me to have on me on the shoot.

Man is walking backwards with small person and a 'God' placard in their hands

Zoom in on their hands and they part the camera moves around to look at the small person standing still.

Move to focus on the main character with several other people jumping around him shouting at him with girlfriend, friends, work, play, life, family, written on them. The crowd parts to let the camera through the crowd and we are now in the circle looking out at the people in and spinning around.

The camera pans around onto the man looking around looking concerned

The crowd starts moving backwards out of the way and the man starts walking backwards away from them. The camera pans around so he it is behind him. It moves all the way around.

He stands still and dodges the punches being thrown at him by someone. He then moves backwards some more and falls over but gets back again. The same thing then happens.

Loads of balls gets thrown at him but he moves backwards through them

Walks backwards through the wall of cardboard. Camera pans around the wall as he goes through.

He gets water thrown at him and water pistols shot at him from all sides

Gets thrown a paddle and starts moving in a different direction. Rowing BACKWARDS. Looks really confused as he does this. Camera is on the side of the boat

Buckets of water thrown at him.

Crawls out. Moves backwards for a sec. Camera is still by the side of him and then pans around to the front

Gets out a map and looks at it and then throws it in the air.

Sees someone with a sign pointing to home and follows it. THE SIGN FOR HOME MUST BE POINTING THE OTHER WAY

Moves his way through some people that are standing in his way. Camera following him from the front. He is moving backwards

Sees a man with a diversion sign. And another. And another. Must be pointing in different directions. These people are beckoning him and smiling. Moves on backwards

Gets signs saying 'new' 'coming through' 'people' and 'friends' written on them

The camera looks at the signs on the floor before moving onwards

The man then crawls under a bush and the camera follows him through. **THIS MAY INVOLVE A CHANGE OF CAMERAMAN**

He then runs moves on backwards

He flaps his hands as he moves on

He then throws these away and carry's on running away. The camera spins around him several times. We see another sign for home. THIS AGAIN MUST BE POINTING THE OTHER WAY

The camera then stays put. We see the man move backwards and fall over and lie flat on the ground

A group of people then shuffle on to screen and sing 'Ah!' like at the start of the music.

The video ends. With an abrupt cut to black

Actors?

So next monday when I go to my youth group, called Ignite, I'll ask the people there if they could get involved with the video for me. I will ask my friend called Dan, who is my age, if he can be the main character in the music video. I think he should be fine with doing that. I will also ask some of the younger people in the group if they can take care of the throwing the water and setting up the boxes etc.
I'm hoping that these guys will be available on the date that I choose to film the music video. I'm yet to decide on a date but I know that it will need to be soon as the nights are drawing in very quickly.

Experimental With Reverse Videos

I did this experimental video to test out how well reversing the video would actually work. I wanted to especially find out if it would create a good effect if I walked backwards and then reversed that to make it seem like I was walking forwards. I am happy to report that this is good and as you can see on the video it is fairly convincing and should work well. Therefore I can do this on my video with the main character walking backwards when filming instead of him walking backwards once reversed.

Scripting V.2

I INTEND TO TRY AND DO THE VIDEO IN ONE CUT BUT FILM IT BACKWARDS AND REVERSE IT IN AFTER EFFECTS

This is how I will film the video. It is backwards and I will reverse it later.

Man is walking forward with small person and a 'God' placard in their hands

The man and the child part but we stay focused on the 'God' person

We then see the camera pan around to several other people shouting at the camera with other placards: 'Girlfriend' 'Friends' 'Work' 'Play' 'Life' 'Family' etc.

The camera pans around onto the man looking around looking concerned

The man walks away from the crowd and stops and looks around at the people. Camera moves behind him and then around the other side of him he turns again and walks away from the camera

He then starts running and the camera also goes a bit faster than him and pans infront. He jumps over some obstacles and moves around some people who are in the way

He barrels rolls across the field

He moves forward and gets tripped up by someone

Pulls himself up again and moves onwards

He gets water thrown at him and water pistols shot at him

Jumps into a rubber boat and gets pulled along out of sight

More water

Jumps out and leaps forward

Gets out a map and looks at it and then throws it to the ground

THIS VIDEO WILL THEN BE REVERSED SO HOPEFULLY WE SHOULD BE ABLE TO GET A GOOD TAKE AND IT WILL ALL WORK TOGETHER QUITE WELL.

I will reverse the song and the cameraman will hold on to it as the video moves on

It will take a lot of organising but hopefully this should all work

I Think this video also works well with the music in the way that the man will start out being dirty from the tree and wet from the buckets of water and will be 'cleansed' as the video continues until he takes the hand of small person and he will be clean and as he should be. This is quite a nice image because of what we believe and God's ability to forgive sins etc.

I may try and experiment with maybe starting out the video with no colour and then gradually bringing the colour back into the video until it hits full colour as 'God' and the man take hands. This is also a nice image in the way that with God is the best place we can be so if the colour is not there at the start then it gives the impression that we're not meant to be without God

Online Internet Research

Before I went out to find actual locations I looked online to see if I could find some ideas for exactly what sort of scene I wanted to find dotted around. This is what I found for the settings I was looking for.

From this I have thought of some nice locations that may be suitable for the music video. For the river we have the river tiffey in Wymondham. There are plenty of country roads and fields around my house and it might be possible to borrow a caravan field that one of my friends from church owns. At this time there are no campers. I can use the back parts of the town for the darker kind of shots with the people with signs surrounding the main character

Character Ideas

This is what I think the typical main character in my music video could look like:

Now obviously my characters will probably not look like this at all. I think because theses pictures were found on the internet meaning that they have been set up to the inch and had their make up done a hundred times so my characters will definitely not be as clear cut as such.

To help inspire me with my music video I went across the internet looking for things that I thought might relate to the music video that I want to create. Here is what I came up with:

Some of the stuff that I have found here may way have inspired me to try some different things out with this music video. I might attempt to try out a form of light painting and I think I may have the lead singer/guitarist singing and playing at the same time wherever the guy is running.

Choosing the Song

I have decided that the best way to go is to look at MUSIC VIDEOS
Because I think christian music can create great pictures that I think is what I want to do. Also, it seems that some christian music videos are very typical and its exactly what you'd expect to see and I want to change that.
My next task is to look at some christian artists and songs and see what it is that I want to produce. I will list the songs and artists I have looked at underneath:

Children's tv is almost as old as TV. Most programmes from the UK involved a heavy educational plug. Shows started to become more entertaining like looney tunes and scooby doo etc.

I think that I don't want to make anything really stereotpical and not very interesting or too patronising so I don't think I want to do this one

MUSIC VIDEO

This is the one I am particularly interested in. I am a christian and I think that there is a lot of christian music that can paint pictures in your head and I they are many great songs that don't have music videos. I have found a band called 'Rend Collective Experiment.' I think the video that they have made for 'movements' isn't one of their best however the lyrics and music of the song is very cool and I think this is definitely something I can do.
